And now we’re onto the good stuff! Well, good by the current standards of my drawing, anyway. As ever, click through to full-view.

Here is a big old mostly-Zev sketch dump. I’ve basically been derping around trying to get the knack of drawing him in a way that a) looks good while b)still looks like him. And I think I’m getting there! Infusing him with a little bit extra of my more usual cartoony style (eg the bust at the top centre or the shirt-ruined crazy muder knife zev) seems to do the trick nicely. The more expressive and malleable looking a face is, the better, IMO.

There’s also a bust of my Mahariel, plus Zev invading the personal space of talking to my Mahariel and a Brosca lady whose design I’ve been mucking around with.

It is probably becoming increasingly obvious that, basically, I like to try and draw people pulling faces.

And improving the quality slightly, here are some old Zevran doodles. Looking at them now, a few weeks from when I first drew them, the bust and full body shot irk me rather a lot, but I’m still happy with the profile.

Stand by for Dragon Age! I meant to have this up…ooh, days back, but I ended up being unfortunately scannerless for a little while. But thankfully RL is being more conducive to art sharing now, so I can get everything uploaded.

Let’s get the worst out of the way first! So, to start off with, here are some crappy old doodles of Morrigan, Alistair and my Mahariel.

So much for uploading on sunday! Due to various reasons I’ve only been able to put everything together today.

So, here it is:the first half of a big compilation of terrible scrappy doodling from the past few months that I still quite like. Click through for full size! These are all characters from my various comic-verses, and a healthy dose of random fairies as well. Because, well, I like designing fairies.

It feels incredibly weird to be throwing my art out into the public domain like this, but as I’ve finally started posting my writing, it was inevitable that my art escaped eventually! I hadn’t really drawn very much at all for many years, and even in my productive phases before that never bothered to, y’know try and learn anatomy or anything important, and goodness, but it doesn’t half show!

But around the start of 2011 I began consciously working to improve for the first time in my life. I was really frustrated with my lack of productivity and could never decide whether I wanted to write or draw and would always feel guilty when one lagged in favour of the other. So, as I work best when I set myself small goals and religiously stick to them, I established a rota. One day I have to do a sketch from life or from whatever useful nude pictures I can dredge up, and the next I have to do half a page of writing. It’s working incredibly well, because it means every day I’m producing at least something.

So while I’ve still got a very long way to go, my rate of improvement is highly encouraging.
